Matt doesn’t just know the city of Richmond – he’s also well acquainted with the counties around it. He grew up on a farm just east of downtown Varina in eastern Henrico. After graduating from high school at St. Christopher’s, he attended Hampden-Sydney College, west of Richmond, near Farmville, Virginia. Some of his favorite activities when he was younger were fishing, hunting, and playing high school sports, particularly football and lacrosse.

Matt’s gateway into the real estate industry was through rental property. He says, “I’ve owned rental property personally for years and have held an interest in the rental market in the Richmond metro area and the counties because of that.” At Oakstone, his job is to seek new properties for the company to manage, while also assisting with leasing and maintenance coordination for current properties in their inventory.

He likes a lot of things about working at Oakstone. He appreciates having such a great group of coworkers who are always willing and able to help each other. He says he’s seen time and time again how everyone really pulls together, so Oakstone can keep offering the best services possible to all their clients. He also finds it very satisfying to be able to help rental property owners care for their investments and find quality tenants, as well as helping those tenants find a place they can call home.

These days, Matt likes to visit local Virginia breweries and restaurants and see live music at some of the area’s many music venues whenever possible. The Church Hill Irish Festival is one of his favorite events of the year and something he always looks forward to. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, collecting vinyl records, and visiting the Northern Neck or Outer Banks. What you may not know about him is that he spent several years cooking in a restaurant in the Outer Banks prior to getting involved in real estate and property management. He still really enjoys cooking at home and entertaining guests.
